AP® Exams for students with disabilities and special needs
HOW DO YOU RECEIVE ACCOMMODATIONS ON YOUR AP® EXAMS?
College Board requires that all students who hope to use special accommodations on AP® exams apply to College Board for approval and regulations through the Services for Students with Disability coordinator.
Deadline to guarantee that College Board has reviewed your application before the 2025 AP® exams is January 24, 2025.
IEP or 504 status at your school does not automatically guarantee that College Board will approve your application, or approve the same accommodations as on your IEP or 504.
Application for accommodation is submitted to your school's College Board disabilities testing liaison. Below are the campus coordinators for Services for Students with Disabilities:
College Board will notify you directly of the result and, if approved, provide you with an SSD number which must be added onto your physical exam materials.
WHERE DO YOU REPORT IF YOU ARE APPROVED FOR ACCOMMODATIONS?
SDUHSD centralizes exam administration with accommodations by needs and requirements. Exams will most likely not be on your campus due to issues of space, noise, and distractions. You will receive a communication email from SDUHSD AP® Testing which will tell you where to report.
Per College Board requirements, you must take the exam at the same time as students who do not receive accommodations.
IS THERE A FEE TO TAKE EXAMS WITH ACCOMMODATIONS?
In some cases, special fees for equipment, one-on-one testing, or special spaces may be charged.
WHAT IF I NEED TO TAKE MEDICATION, FOOD OR DRINKS INTO THE TESTING ROOM WITH ME?
Only students approved by College Board to have medication or food/drink with them during testing will be allowed to enter the room with those items. Other students are recommended to bring snacks in clear plastic bags that can be left outside the testing area and are to be accessed only during breaks. Water in clear plastic bottles with no labels is allowed beneath your testing table/desk.
I HAVE A UNIQUE SITUATION? WHAT DO I DO?
